This café, founded in 1905, will take you back to the XX century and is one of them most emblematic cafes in Lisbon. Nearby is Belém, an area of great importance in Lisbon as it was here that many of Portugal´s caravels departed for Africa and India during the era of the discoveries. In Belém, you will also encounter the fairytale-like Tower of Belém, the Mosteiro de Jeronimos (a monastery) where the tombs of Vasco da Gama and King Manuel I are kept and the monument of the discoveries honouring style the discoverers and the emblematic personalities of Portugal´s past.
